a prayer


     now i lay me down to sleep,
     i pray the lord my soul to keep.

     if i should die before i wake,
     i pray the lord my soul to take.

pretty scary notion for a young child to consider...a plea that worked out well for my mother

    As a child, I never considered the literal notion. It was simply what good little girls and boys recited in hopes of pleasing everyone and receiving praise for a job well done.
